Jonathan KYLE Farmer graduated from London’s Royal College of Art in 2000. Kyle has designed, cut and illustrated for many of the world’s leading fashion labels, for the last 20 years, he has been teaching THESIS-Fashion Design, Design Communication and Portfolio at BFA and MFA levels internationally.

His career includes notable consultancies, fellowships, projects and professional assignments including the Alexander McQueen “Savage Beauty,” and Prada, Schiaparelli “Impossible Conversations” exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum in NYC.

His personal research focuses on the idea of craft:OLOGY, which asks: Is technology contrary to craft, or rather one of craft’s vital components? Is technology the tool that evolves fashion, and craft what embodies the emotions?

His paper sculptures shown during NY Fashion week in Singapore, and Paris “Drawing with Scissors, Designing and Patterning in 5D”, addresses the inherited system in which fashion design is typically taught. By rebooting the “Draw it - Make it” system, Kyle seamlessly integrates design, patterning-cutting, illustration, making and styling.

Kyle held the title of Professor and Department Chair within The School of Graduate Studies at The Fashion Institute of Technology. He is the creator and visionary behind the MFA Fashion Design Program.

Kyle is now Assistant Director of The RED Fashion School and New England Fashion Design Association in Connecticut.
