MFA FASHION DESIGN AND SOCIETY

LEXICON 1:

Joshua Myrie is a women’s and menswear apparel designer currently working with Nike/Jordan Brand in Portland, OR.

Myrie received his Undergraduate BFA in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. While attending FIT Joshua was the inaugural winner of The Joes’s Black Book Womenswear scholarship and was named the Wendi Reed Sportswear designer of the year upon graduation.

Joshua’s had the opportunity to assist at various design housed including Calvin Klein, DVF, Nathan Jenden, and Yigal Azrouel.

Awarded the Presidential Scholarship to attend the MFA Fashion Design & Society Program at The New School, Joshua focused on building his design Lexicon. Specializing in function based textiles development, experimental construction techniques and the exploration of the Black identity in Design, Myrie’s MFA portfolio, graduate collection and current work showcases his unique voice as a contemporary Black-American Designer.
